Look in your closet right this instant. Are you living in a sea of black? While we all know black is a staple color. But, I was shocked to find out how many of you cited it as your “favorite” color. During the give-away, I asked the question, “What is your favorite color to wear?” What I learned is many of us are shying away from color altogether.

If you are an early bird, or a late night owl I’ve learned staying on a schedule is SUPER important! Sure, we all have the occasional late nights, or days we have to be up super early. What I’ve found is our bodies respond best to a routine schedule. If one day you are up at 5:00am going to bed at 11:00pm, the next day up at 8:00am and in bed at 9:00pm this takes a toll on your body. It is especially evident in those tired looking eyes!

Most of us at some point in our lives have experienced arts & crafts! One of my own personal favorites was paper cutting! I loved how all the different shapes would appear out of a plain piece of paper. Now, the same theory applies to fashion! Cut outs appear on clothes everywhere! I’m pretty sure each of you has a pair of “shredded denim” jeans right? How about destroyed tops though? Or, have you tried pairing two shredded pieces together? Below are some challenges I faced when trying to find a destructed sweater.

There are all kinds of sweater choices these days. The biggest decision I make when picking out a sweater is how it feels. Truth be told, I have purchased a few that look really cute. Unfortunately, they don’t feel cute! They itch like crazy! So I have implemented a few sweater purchasing rules I would like to share! First, make sure you take a mirror selfie. This helps you identify how the sweater will really look. Example: I could not decide on sizes for this particular sweater. I was not sure if I wanted it to be slouchy or tight. I made my decision after trying different sizes and taking a few selfies!

This past year I can not tell you how many times I was in tears instead of smiles. My mom never failed to pay it forward. No matter what her day encountered, she gave me words of encouragement, tissues to wipe away the tears and endless hugs and love. She did not give me a million dollars, or take me on a fancy trip. BLANKET STATEMENT

BLANKET STATEMENT

Posted in Fall 2015 | 3 comments

Blanket statements:
We are all unique.
We are all special.
We are all extraordinary.
We all have bad days.
We all have passions.
We all have goals.
We all have fears.
WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT.

This list could go on… and on! When we start to compare, we tend to easily forget about the qualities we do have. Then it’s a sea of sadness that sets in. (Anyone been here, depression/comparison mode: she got this many “likes”, they went on that amazing vacation, he gets her flowers once a week.) Look, there will always be someone who is different from you. Yes different, instead of thinking that those things are “better” why can’t they just be different? That’s what makes us all special, cause we are all different! It’s a simple quote but one I think we need reminded on, “Comparison is the thief of joy!” Hug yourself, love yourself and just be yourself. The blanket scarf is a fun wardrobe piece! How will you wear yours? Maybe you buy it in a different color, or wear it in a different way! Just be you! I gave some simple ideas below! As always thanks for reading! Are you feeling a little wild these days? If it’s in fashion or life we can all feel like a “wild child” sometimes. Any of these hit home? Wild weather, wild schedules, wild relationships or simply a wild day! So, as we face our individual daily journeys… why not get a little wild with fashion?! This skirt is wild in itself, so typically you would pair it with something basic to tone it down. I decided to get wild and pair it with a puffer vest! None the less, one that has fur! A little wild and crazy right? For me not so much. Let me explain why! Wild schedules are something we all face daily. Especially if you are going from work to play. I heard my sister-in-law say… “I have a million high-heel shoes just sitting in my car cause I want to wear heels, but walk in flats!” The same idea applies here! This look allows you the versatility to make a quick change no matter what “wild adventures” you encounter!

Cut the Crap

Cut the Crap

Posted in Fall 2015 | 2 comments

What I am finding and hearing from a lot of people is this… We all simply want “real”, but what does that mean? Real feelings, real emotions, real fears, real talk. So why are we all working so hard to keep those feelings inside? Why can’t we just “cut to the crap” so to say. None of us want to be “Debbie Downers”, but let’s be honest we all don’t have it put together everyday! When you are in a creative field (or even writing a blog) you have to be open to critiques. At first we could feel mad about them, but maybe a better approach is to learn from them. My topic today is this. If someone provides you with constructive criticism do you think, appreciate it, and learn from it. Maybe not at first… I know sometimes I don’t! Overall to get to those real feeling and real emotions we need to let others talk real. Trust me none of us are perfect, (even if the photograph looks it)… so let’s just say it how it is. After, let’s take time to appreciate others for having the kindness to be real! As always, thank you for reading. xo – Lisa

It’s 5’oclock somewhere! Is it time to play yet? Ever feel like you are working for the weekend? (Especially after a nice long weekend with friends and family?) A typical work week in the land of corporate America… feel repetitive to you? You get up, you go to work, you check emails, you attend meetings, you dress-to-impress. Somewhere in the midst of your day… you try and fit in calls or texts to loved ones. Sometimes you skip lunch, or miss that the sun was out! Your day is rushed, by the time you get home, you are exhausted. Is it time for play yet? Most of us have two lives, or more! Once you get off work, another life starts. If it’s hugging your kids, kissing significant others, making time for a workout, dinner, dishes, etc. (don’t even get me started on chores!) We all can relate, if it’s not corporate america, maybe you are a stay-at-home mom, or a girl writing a blog who just lost her job and is trying to find her way. When I was shooting down at The Arcade of Cleveland, it hit me. “The Arcade” back in the day we would run to the arcade to play. The real arcade, (am I to old for some of you to remember?) Proving my point that everything is at our finger tips these days. Summer is here, don’t forget that “long weekend aka old arcade” feel. PS: Does those old arcades even exist now days?

The struggle is real. Writing this blog I was struggling to find the right topic! I had so many ideas, then it hit me. (When you are struggling, ever find the idea is right in front of you?!) There it was “the struggle, the strength, the strive for the success, the ultimate win!” Cleveland sports, let’s face it they have been a struggle. Cleveland fans, let’s face it WE have strength! This Cleveland town, it’s full of hard workers just like you! When you “suit-up” day in and day out, by the end of your hard work day are you ready to play? My guess is the answer is yes! Some of us have that ideal job, where our passion meets the daily grind. Most of us work really hard, and we are simply tired. Our work day is filled with many stresses, struggles and strengths. We are in a furry of checking emails, trying to fit in lunches and hitting deadlines that are sometimes simply unattainable. It’s when you do hit that crazy deadline, that’s when magic starts! You want to scream, jump up and down, then simply stop working and start playing. Right now… this town, this team… we need to make that unattainable play happen! So let’s go “#ALLinCLE” and start watching that magic appear! Any of you proud of doing something that you thought was completely unattainable? My job at Bonne Bell was extremely deadline driven, and many times I was up to that last minute mark. Stressing out to the max. I have no idea how I hit so many crazy deadlines, but I did. So if you only have 24-seconds left to make it could you? Will we do it? “Suit-up Cleveland, I did!”

I’ve gone completely apples this past April. When you love fashion let’s be honest it is simply hard to look and not buy. So… I’ve been trying to cut back on my wardrobe spending (insert please move your eyes to this cute & adorable “cut out” top!!) I’ve gone a little apples! What the heck does that mean? Every-time I window shop it’s as if I am being offered that apple that looks delish, but is really poisonous! (insert, please forgive all the Disney® related blogs these days. I used to work on that brand all day long and I am totally missing it!) If you don’t know which story I am referring too it’s “Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs!” – Stay with me though… think about it, what is your poisonous apple? Maybe it’s not fashion? Is it travel, cars, toys for your kids, or how about the morning Starbuck’s® run? We all go a little apples for something! I went apples for Anthropologie and who can blame me? They sent me the most adorable catalog, then a birthday coupon so off to the store I went. I absolutely loved the cut out on the back of this top, and these high waisted pants are a girls dream! A little birthday treat from my favorite store, can you blame me? PLUS, Snow White wears blue and yellow a perfect choice for anyone to wear! Getting that call was crazy “Hello, Lisa we would like you to be an extra in the movie, SAY WHAT?!” It was an outstanding experience and one I will never forget! So instead of me going on and on about things you might or might not care about. I wanted to open the blog up to any questions you might have! What would you like to know about this experience? Below are some fun insider scoop details. Want to know more? Just ask in the comment section below, I will answer!

Cinderella Blue

Cinderella Blue

Posted in Fashion, Spring 2015 | 3 comments

We all love Disney’s® Cinderella story right? That long blue gown, that magical moment where the Fairy Godmother appeared. It’s the story that’s captured every girls heart. It also rings true when we zoom inside our lives. Asking why yet? Listen up, we don’t wake up looking (or feeling) like a Cinderella these days! Heck zoom in, and you will often find we feel more like maids then princesses! I can voucher for that! Why can’t anything stay clean, like permanently or at least for more then a day? My “OCD ways” do NOT help me in this area.

I wanted to start a little series of blogs… to show some “Behind the Scenes” truth’s about blogging. In today’s day we tend to look only at the “now”. The thing that is in front of us, at that particular time & moment. Wonder if we looked beyond, dug deeper into the hard work of others? It’s easy to look at a picture and say “Oh she looks great, or sure she can wear that!” Truth is we become a little numb these days, talking without thinking first. We brush things off and don’t always see the bigger picture. I love this blog, and I love blogging. I love fashion, I love photography. I love inspiring others. There are also things you don’t see.

Friday Fashion Feature

Posted in Fashion, Spring 2015 | 7 comments

This girl… Meet my girl Kristi! She is my Friday Fashion Feature, and I adore her! I hope you will too! When you wake up and see the sun rising on the horizon… you know it is going to be a beautiful day. That is exactly what this girl is! She is SUNSHINE on the HORIZON. One thing I adore about the blogging community is the support of women encouraging women. I want to “turn the tables” a little bit on the blog today and talk about this ray of Sunshine! I swear this girl wakes up with sunshine in her oatmeal! (I’m saying oatmeal cause we both love it in the am!) Silly fact, but true! Another truth this girl is a complete go-getter. Something I think we all could learn from. She does not let fear stop her. I have watched, learned and adored seeing her find love… growth… fashion… deals… and heck find me! She loves meeting new people and will take it into her own hands to find new people and experiences. (FACT: She jumped onto a plane to meet fashion IG friends and get this! It was one of the best experiences she had.) I know fear can stop us, hold us back. Don’t let it! Take a minute to wake up with a little Kristi, and see the sunshine on the horizon. Do something that scares you. The outcome might surprise you! Could turn into an experience that is unforgettable.

Little Windstorm

Little Windstorm

Posted in Fashion, Spring 2015 | 11 comments

Seriously, how do we do it? We are all working though an hourly… daily… even weekly windstorm?! So yeah… where’s that sign up sheet, ya know the one where you just unwind? I was looking forward to days filled with massages, relaxation and rest. Instead it’s a constant battle of what wins for the day! I’m not signing up for massages these days, I’m on the phone for SIX hours trying to sign up for unemployment! (Can I just say this… that is WAY to long to be on the phone for anything!). My list of things to do is getting longer and longer, and I was completely shocked by the amount I have not got done. How do we all do it? Balance so much on our plates, and come out looking pretty. It’s like saying here ya go babe welcome to your HURRICANE, now just relax in the middle of it. Oh yeah, and pull yourself together then walk out looking and feeling your very best. Are you nuts? We all should be having breakdowns every minute of the day! We don’t though. We are filling our plates to the MAX these days! Heck just trying to fit in the doctor is tricky these days! Who has time for the appointments much less all the tests and follow up visits! SIDE NOTE: Does anything stay the same, or has everything closed or relocated too? I have been running around like a crazy person just trying to find doctor offices, labs and even post offices! Everything has either closed or moved. This is what we call stress free living? This blog is simply to remind everyone that you are not alone. We all juggle and have our own little “windstorms” these days.

Celfie for a Day

Celfie for a Day

Learning to go with the flow. Today is a big “Celfie” day for me, so don’t mind if I do. How many “celfie’s” am I allowed to take today? Thirty-seven does seem like a bit much. (Yes I just told you my age, it really bothers my husband more then me I think… he is closer to 40 lol). That’s the thing about birthday’s though. I am finding everyone has a difference of opinion, like everything of course. Some hate it because it’s another year to add on. Some love it for that same reason. I don’t believe there is a “right or wrong” way to celebrate your birthday. I simply believe you should do what makes you happy.

Against the Grain

Against the Grain

Posted in Fashion, Spring 2015 | 8 comments

Going against the grain, walking into the wind, or swimming up current? This is pretty much my life these days. When does life get easy? I think the answer is never. It is a daily choice how we feel in the midst of our struggles. So when do we go against the grain in life, and when should we blend in. How do we know which path is the right path for us? I’ve been faced with a lot of tough decision lately, as I put on these old flares I realized something. A year ago wearing these people might have said “oh gosh those are not in style?” Now look, they are coming around again! So for all of you that went against the grain and kept your flares! Yippee bring them back out! Feel off track with something, the path usually finds it way to us! PHEW!

Roadblocks

Posted in Fashion, Spring 2015 | 4 comments

Don’t give up on a dream! Have an idea of how your day “should” go? Then it turns into something completely different? You had a plan, a goal, a dream. Then BOOM life sets in or a “roadblock” appears and it stops you. Question is do you let these roadblocks stop you or do you push on? I could literally go on for days about the roadblocks I’ve been presented with these days! It’s easy to get caught up in them, and sometimes they slow you down, but never let them stop you! Do you have something that you have been wanting to do, but for whatever reason it’s not happening? Is it something simple like making a return to the mall, or maybe getting a tattoo, starting that workout routine? Mine, well it was getting my passport! I have been wanting to do this for awhile, and it just has not happened. Get this the day I tried I hit a roadblock too! My day did not go as planned, and I chose to love every unexpected minute of it! Determined, I am happy to say my passport should be arriving any day NOW! So, spin the globe, close your eyes… then when you feel ready open them, where did you land? Enjoy the unexpected road-bumps of life! I have ten years to actually use this thing right? It’s almost April what would you like to accomplish? Big or small? Tell me, I would love to hear!

Break the Pattern

Patterns are hard to break or hard to start! That goes for fashion, life and design! Creating patterns, living patterns, and getting used to patterns all affect us in one way or another. Do you wake up, have a cup of coffee, go to work, go to the gym, start laundry, text a friend or loved one? We get used to the daily patterns. When they stop, do you stop? Or it is time for an adjustment. My week is all out of WACK, and my typical pattern is definitely being affected! This is the first week in ten years I am waking up to not go to work! WHAT?! How do I do this? This scarf is reminding me there is always new pattern to be found! I am saying goodbye to old patterns and looking forward to new ones! Do you get used to patterns? Do you like to wear patterns? Are you ready to create new patterns? I AM! Hello pattern world, I am ready for you!

Are we allowed to be whiny on occasion, or not! Who says it’s not okay to “wine” a little? What I have found is there is great value in letting your feelings out. Even if it is a little whiny. I’ve learned this, people simply can’t read your mind! No joke! We all have these thoughts, then get frustrated when others don’t know what we are thinking. So WINE about it! We might actually understand each other a little better! P.S. If you are looking for a great place to make your own wine check out Your Wine Cellar. It is next to The Brew Kettle for you beer lovers. We did this one Christmas and it was tons of fun! I highly suggest it! Till then wine on my friends!

One that completely stumped me was, “What is your favorite smell?” now you would think flowers, or baby powder or something would have popped into my head? Nope nothing, I was blank. I find when we have to much going on it’s hard to focus! I’m focused now, and the answer is clear COFFEE! I love the smell of coffee.

Eyelets “Eye Spy” | On You

Eyelets “Eye Spy” | On You

Posted in Fashion, Spring 2015 | 5 comments

Think back for a minute to your childhood? Do your eye’s light up with memories? As I sat here (in the kids section), I thought back to some of mine! I could go on and on about my mom! The stories she would read to me every night before bed! But, one of my best memories is playing “eye spy” with her in the doctors office. When you are a kid (and adult) constantly going to the doctor becomes a nightmare! She was always there for me (and still is today) saying let’s play “eye spy”. I don’t know if she ever knew (MOM YOU WILL NOW!) how much it distracted me! It took the worry of the doctor away and made us have loads of fun! Which was a true gift in a place that often was worry-some. So not only do I continue to love “eye spy” but I also love eyelet patterns. They are playful and fun (just like the game “eye spy”) and they don’t require any work. Certain patterns can create the illusion of “more” without having to put it all together. You literally buy a top with a eyelet/lace pattern and your outfit is complete! It’s a great simple look that makes an “eyelet” opening statement.

Zoom In

This cold weather has been killer this year! So simple pleasure ready set go! It’s the start of “March Madness” and my simple pleasure Friday’s, so ZOOM IN! Our daily routines can feel like a never ending battle of chores, work, errands, etc. We simply over look or zoom right by the things that gave us happiness. Take a closer look and see what parts of the day you enjoyed! I was having a terrible day and someone said to me “well it’s only 3:20pm, the day is not over how can you change it?” Sometimes in the middle of winter, on a dreary day, we easily focus on the bad. Then I find it ruins our entire day! My simple pleasure reminder today – ZOOM in on something else! Use a magnifying glass to remind yourself of the simple pleasures! We all love our iPads, and iPhones but sometimes it nice to remember those old records, books, and take a break from social media. Today I am simply ZOOMING in, and reminding myself to take breaks from social media. I often get lost in it, and i start comparing myself to everyone else, which easily gets me down. What would you like to ZOOM in on today… to give yourself more happiness?

While rushing to get ready for the upcoming Holidays, we can sometimes forget to look back on the year we’ve had. This past year for me has been quiet a “twinding road”. So many adventures, memories and goals I have made. It’s not always the gifts that stand out but a simple moment!!! The same thing goes for fashion. A simple change from a structured blazer to a jean jacket vest changed up the look of this outfit. As you finish up your gifting do something “simply special” for someone! Be like the twine on this box, it’s the simplest things that sometimes mean the most.

Feeling Spent

Feeling Spent

Posted in Fashion, Winter 2014 | 2 comments

Anyone else feeling a little “spent” in more ways then one? Typically around this time of year most of our wallets feel spent, but our emotions can jump right on board. Well it happened to me this past Monday. I had hit the wall of total exhaustion. After a sleepless night, I woke (usual 5:30am) to get ready for work and couldn’t. My head was pounding, my hands were shaking, and I realized I there was no way I was going to be productive. We can all overdue it at times. Staying up to late, saying yes too much, trying to please others while putting ourselves last. My body had taken over. It was knocking on my head saying, “You time silly”. As I slept in till 11:15am (which by the way is UNREAL for me), I slowly started to feel like myself again. This time of year we can all easily overdue it. Balance is a key part to the holidays and life. Make time for you, and always listen to your body. Your presents will be prettier, your smile will be bigger, and your body will be happier! HAPPY SHOPPING AND WRAPPING THIS WEEKEND! Remember to not overdue it!

Do you ever find yourself using nature for fashion inspiration? One of my favorite fall & winter colors is mustard! (Maybe it’s because I truly do love mustard!) When it comes to fashion our wardrobe tends to change with the seasons. So why Black and Mustard? Well it’s like a bumble/honey bee! That sweet little sting of fashion, with a pop of color. I normally would wear mustard with browns, but pairing it with black was a change up for me. This was inspired by nature and those sweet little bumble bee’s! So if you get flowers today, walk over pretty leaves or make a snowman with a “Where’s Waldo” Hat, use it for inspiration! Take the colors to your wardrobe!

OUTFIT DETAILS: Skirt – Express, Top – Banana Republic, Bracelet’s – Charming Charlie, Shoes – BCBGirls

FASHION TIP: Pairing a simple top with a dressy skirt has been a popular fun fashion trend. I personally love this skirt so it’s fun to dress it up or dress it down! Classic black pumps are a girl’s best friend.

Splurge or Save?

Splurge or Save?

When is the time to splurge and when is the time to save? With the holidays approaching quickly we are all on tighter budgets. So while I’m out shopping around, I try my hardest….. but there is always something to be found! One of my absolute favorite stores is Anthropologie. Of course on Black Friday I had to go….. they were offering 25% off ya know! Now keep in mind I have my “ANTHRO” rules: Closing my eyes, staying on budget and on task (gifting!), finally getting inspiration. What happens? THE COAT? It’s hooded, it’s warm, it’s cute, well it’s perfect. Price tag, well it’s a BIG SPLURGE! Ouch…. So when do you splurge and when do you save? I loved it, but I was sticking to my rules. Out of Anthropologie I went, feeling bent……. but next stop was to Target and believe me I SPENT! I could not believe my eyes! Much to my surprise, there stood a coat so similar! I saved and spent, what a great deal it meant!

The Blue Spell

The Blue Spell

Posted in Fashion, Fall 2014 | 6 comments

The deep “winter blues” spell. I’m there, where has the sun gone? Can it please come back out and play? Being a summer girl when the weather turns to cold and gray I find my wardrobe does the same. As I look through my fall/winter wardrobe it’s a little depressing “wear is the sun”?! Enough with the grays/blacks/browns let’s talk about BLUE! It’s a universal color if you ask me! Why do you think they are called “BLUE” jeans. Blue compliments every skin tone and hair color and looks good on any gender! So I am bringing back the sunshine and color! Showing off a little bit of skin in the middle of winter is fun right? With the perfect pop of color BLUE! I’m officially releasing us outta our deep winer blues! Spell is broken! Go get your Blue on!

Orange You Up Yet – Early Bird

Orange You Up Yet – Early Bird

Posted in Fashion, Fall 2014 | 8 comments

RISE AND SHINE, “orange” you up yet? Did you set that alarm extra early yesterday and shop till you dropped?! The friday after Thanksgiving is a great day to find deals! The price to pay is waking up at 3:00am, dealing with the crowds of people and having your third cup of coffee by 7:00am! Every year is different for me, sometimes I want to be out in the madness and other times I want to just put up the Christmas tree and decorate at home! But ALL the time I want a DEAL! So how do you save money, get through the holidays and give a little extra touch to your wardrobe and gifts? Keep it simple but sweet. Giving your outfit one special touch can make it feel different without spending a lot of money. For fashion I find one of the best tricks to make an outfit feel put together is with a belt. BONUS belts are really inexpensive! I find the same approach can be used for holiday gift shopping. For example we all love gift cards but give it in a personalized initial mug and you’ve added a special touch. Give your wardrobe and gifting purchases a little something special this year! It does not have to cost a lot, a little something extra goes a long way! HAPPY SHOPPING!

Anyone else feel like “blooming up” for this short work week? There are so many things I could blog about this week I don’t know where to start! I’ve seen a lot of “Thanksgiving Day” what to wear fashion posts. But let’s be real we all love to look cute for Thanksgiving but the reality is after we dress it up we really want to be in our favorite sweat pants by the end of the day right? If there is one season I tend to over eat with, it’s Thanksgiving. I LOVE pumpkin everything and it makes me “bloom up” in more ways then one! lol. So my official post is about living your life in full bloom this week. What does that mean exactly? Below are my own personal reminders of how to live life to the “bloomest” when you have a little extra time.

Ingredients for Jean Shopping

Ingredients for Jean Shopping

How to find the perfect pair of jeans?! I love getting input from my followers and one of my amazing girlfriends asked me “How do I find the perfect pair of jeans?” The truth is, I struggled with the answer. How do you find that perfect fit?! What is the recipe for those jeans, how do we find them, and what is the key ingredient used. I realized there is no simple answer, or easy fixes to this problem. I think everyone (girls and guys too) struggle to find jeans that fit them perfectly. So as I looked through my closet, I asked myself which pair of jeans do I love the most and why? I realized my answer, but I also realized it may not work for everyone. Finding that perfect fit is not the same for all, but maybe a recipe will work! You can always modify ingredients to finding your own jeans. Below are the ingredients to how I find mine! I hope it helps you find yours!

Hibernate Your Heels – Heck No!

Hibernate Your Heels – Heck No!

Posted in Fashion, Fall 2014 | 5 comments

I refuse to hibernate my high-heels till spring! It’s official, our first snowfall hit. Personally that first glimpse of snow is my absolute favorite to watch! (Well besides I ABSOLUTELY love a white Christmas!). With all that being said the “Now What” comes to mind. NOW WHAT THE HECK DO I WEAR? Our clothes get heavier, we bundle up (hibernating our high-heels) but bringing out our hats, gloves, and yes more scarves! It’s the time when I want to snuggle and sit in front of a fire place. Pretty much hibernate till spring. Cause who has a clue what to wear?! How do you look cute, but still trudge through the snow? Shoes and boots are my answer! Now of course I am not wearing these high-heels out in the middle of a snow storm. My trick, just bring them with you! Throw a pair of high-heels in your car! You can go from running errands, to shopping, to a date night really easily. Your feet might freeze for just a second, but join me in this mission! Do not hibernate your high-heels till spring! Bring on the snow, let’s play high-heels and all!

Brighten Your Life

Brighten Your Life

Posted in Fashion, Fall 2014 | 10 comments

It’s a uphill battle some days tying fashion in with a bad morning! I have found the struggle is real. When you are going through a hard time in life sometimes the last thing you want to think about is fashion. Trust me I’ve had those days, the ones you want to just stay in bed all day. Fashion, make-up and pretty much anything feels like an uphill battle. Your wardrobe becomes your bed. Your hair is a mess, you look at yourself in the mirror and you think “train wreck”. Yes the days of yoga pants, pain and tears. Life is just hard sometimes, we all can relate in some way right?

Pattern Play

Pattern Play

Posted in Fashion, Fall 2014 | 10 comments

For those of you that don’t know I am a Graphic Designer by day. I “pattern play” not only in my wardrobe but my lifestyle. Being a little “OCD” sometimes I can go overboard wanting everything to match perfectly. We have to learn as we go right? Well, I’m learning more about myself everyday! So does everything really have to be perfect? I often hear from others “shopping just is not fun!” So let’s make it fun, not perfect! Look at all these crazy patterns and see what inspires you! What colors can you combo? What patterns can you pair? Try strips with dots, or black with brown, or blue with burnt sienna like I have done here! I am learning that “life / fashion / daily routines” do not have to be perfect! Sometimes the imperfections are my best designs or greatest wardrobe outfits!

Falling for Floral

Falling for Floral

Posted in Fall 2014 | 13 comments

Truth be told i’m shocked how much I love this floral trend happening! It is a huge misconception that I am always girly. There is something about this dress that when I saw it, I had to try it on! Although it’s not like anything I would normally buy, sure enough I was SOLD! It made me feel feminine and I loved the floral pattern. Paired it here with a jacket and boots, now it’s perfect for a fall date night out! I do love to dress up, dress down and try new things. NOW, ask me if I would ever be caught wearing florals, definitely NOT! Sometimes you have to step outside your fashion “go to’s” when shopping and try something new! Go outside of that comfort zone, you might shock yourself. I just did!

Free Falling

Free Falling

Posted in Fall 2014 | 27 comments

We all do it, we “free fall” into the trap. It becomes the one signature item in your closet we buy way to much of. You know you have an abundance of it, but somehow you seem to buy more and more! Anyone else fall into the “I don’t need this trap?” but “I have to have it?” It just works for you, it becomes your “go to piece”. You could wear this item for three weeks without repeating it once! Is it yoga pants (we all have way to many! Lol), is it shoes (every girl seems to have this problem), is it socks, purses, tell me I need to know! So here is my “Free Fall” trap. Scarves! They get me every-time when I’m out shopping. I seriously don’t need another one, but yet there I am free falling into the trap of buying one! So I decided to count all the scarves I have for an “official” blog post number…. (stay tuned! It’s WAY TO MANY!) I figured this out, I have a slight scarf problem. So as I was shopping with my girlfriend this question came up. I asked her “What’s the one thing you could wear for three weeks without repeating?” It took me awhile to get the answer right, but I loved it! So what’s your “free fall trap”, I would love to hear! Then maybe I will share the official scarf count number! Owning the fact you have a problem is the first step right?

Country Cuties – “She’s Country”

A summer filled with country concerts was a great “hot spot” for fashion inspiration! Ever feel uninspired by your own wardrobe, or don’t know exactly how to put things together. Find inspiration all around you! Looks at what your friends & family are wearing! Or follow my lead and people “fashion” watch at country concerts! It was great fun to watch the show, but a fashion bonus to see what the country mega stars would show up wearing! There is fashion all around us, sometimes it just takes an extra spark to ignite a new thought for your existing wardrobe! Not only am I a huge country music fan, but it is one of my favorite fashion trends! So i’ve gone country for this look, wearing everything that is over a year plus old! People watch, celebrity watch, even make sure to check out those manikins in the store! Be inspired! Be sparked! Wear those things you have in your closet in new ways!

Stay Young!

Stay Young!

Posted in Fashion, Fall 2014 | 13 comments

It’s crazy how fast the years go by! These days there are so many fashion rules I can’t keep up! Wear this, but don’t wear that. Plus all the “do’s and don’ts” of fashion! Who says you can’t wear a mini skirt at any age? Or that adults can’t shop in the kids department too? The kids department always has cutest stuff and I get inspired just looking around! Now, why is that? Kids are playful and fun, they don’t care what the world thinks of their outfit. They wear whatever they want, and I love that! You see a little girl wearing a sweat shirt with a tutu and everyone says “look at her she is so cute!” Now do that as an adult and we all judge. Why? I feel it is important to be true to your own self. Be true to your fashion and your taste! If it is on the “do or don’t” list who cares? I love this “school girlish outfit”, now maybe everyone will say I am to old for this, or that skirt is to short. Should we really all walk around in the same outfits? Looking like clones of each other? For me I want to have fun with my fashion and not care, just be a kid at heart! Wear what you love, create your own style and forget your age. Life is better when you stop worrying about what others think!
